Bridging Hope Through Community Service at Orphanage

Texas A&M RFC participates in great community service events that need Old Maroon assistance to fund. Following the Texas A&M vs. t.u. cup matches every year, they travel to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and stay the night. The following day they put on a rugby clinic at an orphanage down there, run by an organization called Bridging Hope, organized by Peggy Gerke out of Austin. A&M has calls into the Athletic department to donate sports equipment and Rec Sports pays for their vans to Austin and back but they need additional funds for gas and rental to cover the extra day and distance, as well as hotel rooms for a night. It is always possible that the orphanage is in need of building supplies, etc. that people could donate rather than cash.

This is a great opportunity for the club and they always bring back great pictures of these kids.

To Donate to this cause, as well as help cover Texas A&M RFC’s van rental, fuel, lodging and other expenses to ensure succesful community service to this orphanage, click on the button below.
Thank you for “Bridging Hope” for the orphans of Mexico through this community service project, the sport of rugby and the Texas A&M Rugby Football Club. Gig ‘Em!
